NOMINATIONS have opened for the 2014 Director of the Year Awards in the London and South-East England region.

The regional winners will then go on to compete in the national awards run by the Institute of Directors.

Although Oxfordshire had a dearth of regional finalists last year, the local business community had four regional finalists in 2012.

Paul Lindley, the founder and chief executive of Henley’s Ella’s Kitchen, went on to take the national award in the small and medium company category.

Latest Business news:

Company directors do not have to be members of the Institute of Directors to nominate.

Rodger Broad, the institute’s director of the south region, said: “These awards are a wonderful way to raise the profile of your organisation and boost the morale of your staff.”

The categories are:

  • Director of the Year for a large company with annual turnover of more than £100m.
  • Director of the Year for a medium company with annual turnover between £10m and £99.9m.
  • Director of the Year for a small company with annual turnover of up to £9.99m.
  • Young Director of the Year (less than 24 years of age).
  • International Director of the Year (more than 25 per cent of turnover must be generated through overseas sales).
  • Public/Third Sector Director of the Year (open to directors from the public sector, third sector and not-for-profit entities).
  • Family Business Director of the Year (second generation or more of a family business).
