A MAN has been left with “life-changing” facial injuries after a brawl involving around 15 people in Oxford’s Gloucester Green.

Police were called at 4.10am on Saturday and the square was cordoned off until 11.30am.

Three men were taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford with head injuries and one remains in hospital with serious facial injuries.

Police are reviewing CCTV images and have appealed for witnesses who saw the fight or groups running across Beaumont Street and towards Wellington Square to come forward.

A kebab store owner, who did not want to be named, said: “They were chasing each other, fighting and shouting. I could hear someone on the floor, really shouting.”

Ben McKillop, 26, a resident of Gloucester Green, said: “We have been here for six months and never seen anything like this.”

Dimitra Kyriazi-Kanellopoulou, 60, said: “It is shocking this has happened. I only moved in last month. I am worried and scared to go out.”

DC Craig Burchall said: “It appears there were two groups, there was an argument about something and a fight ensued from that.”

Fifteen men in their early 20s have been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and have been released on police bail. Witnesses can call police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
