Knitting together some charity cash

Janey Messina and James Edwards
THE Oxford Drunken Knitwits, a group that meets up to knit in a pub, raised almost £2,000 by holding a charity Knitathon.
Group leader Janey Messina held a fundraiser at The Duke of Cambridge for the Restore charity to mark World Mental Health Day. Knitters taught their other halves the craft and enjoyed happy-hour prices all night long.
Janey, 29, from Los Angeles, set up the group six months ago as a way of making friends in her adopted home.
She said: “It was incredible. I was really surprised at how much support we received. About 40 of us turned out and it was great fun.”
Members meet up at various pubs around the city every Wednesday night.
