THE sun shone as more than 130 people enjoyed a children’s entertainer at a fundraiser for the Oxford City Farm project.
Musician Nick Cope, arts and crafts and face painting thrilled youngsters who attended at Florence Park Community Centre in Cornwallis Road on Saturday.
About £580 was raised for the project which is hoping to start up a “city farm” on land belonging to St Gregory the Great School in Cricket Road, Cowley, to help educate people about where food comes from.
Mum Sian Marvelley and her two children nine-month-old Cari and four-year-old Ioan were among the families enjoying the activities.
Ms Marvelley, 41, from Iffley, said: “We had a lovely time and we would love to support the development of an Oxford city farm.”
Lucie Mayer, from the Oxford Farm project, said: “Lots of people turned up to find out about the farm project and to talk about how they could get involved.
“At the moment we are focusing on fundraising to support the planning application, which will be some time next year.”
