THE quayside at Winsford Marina is submerged following 48 hours of heavy rain.

While water flows around one side of the island at Bottom Flash, the car park side of the Weaver is filled with standing water.

The Environment Agency has issued a flood warning for the Weaver Navigation.

Areas still at risk include properties along New Road, Winsford Bridge and the Marina.

Police advised that New Road is subject to closure.

The red alert warning is the second highest severity warning, meaning flooding is expected and immediate action is required.

There are now 75 warnings in place nationally; 25 in the north west.

Floods in Northwich have forced the closure of the Dane Street section of London Road, along the gyratory system, causing traffic problems throughout the area.

EA teams have been working through the night to clear rivers of blockages and checking flood defences.

Anyone concerned about potential flooding should visit the Environment Agency’s website www.environment-agency.gov.uk/flood, call Floodline on 0845 988 1188 or follow the EA on twitter @EnvAgencyNW.
