IT’S good to see police are finally taking drivers to task for breaking 20mph speed limits in Oxford.
Let’s just hope it’s not a one-off. Without enforcement, any speed limit is a waste of time.
St Giles is a busy area and driving at 41mph is simply unacceptable.
Whether the punishment was stiff enough for the other 82 vehicles caught going over 26mph is another matter.
It does seem farcical that drivers can only be fined if they are going 32mph or more.
And is there any real reason offenders can’t be sent on existing speeding courses?
Whether you go over 20mph or 30mph, the message is surely still the same; obey the limit.
Still, you have to spare a thought for the street cleaner who was caught in yesterday’s speed checks.
Who knew those vehicles were even capable of reaching 29mph?
