CLASSIC car lovers came together for fun in the sun at Blenheim Palace yesterday.

The palace grounds in Woodstock were packed with vintage vehicles and their owners at the annual classic vehicle show, which is also running today.

Among the enthusiasts was Stephen Penny, 56, from Carterton. Mr Penny restores the bodywork on old Rolls Royces for a living, but got more than he bargained for when he arrived in his very own 1923 Rolls Royce Phantom.

He said: “We won best car in show, which wasn’t the reason for going, but it was certainly a nice surprise.

“We went to it for the first time last year and we loved it so much we decided to go back again this time.

“Obviously I love Rolls Royces, because that’s the way I make my living, but the whole atmosphere of people enjoying old cars, no matter what they are, was fantastic.”

Today, the show will continue with a supercar picnic and a display of motorbikes.
