CREATION Theatre is putting on a special fundraiser tomorrow to help it through the tough summer.

Earlier this month the theatre company reported bookings were so far down because of the bad weather that next summer’s season of plays was in doubt.

A special version of the climactic scene from its production of The Merchant of Venice will be staged in Oxford Town Hall’s Old Courtroom, where money lender Shylock will hope to win his pound of flesh.

Leila Crerar, who plays Portia, said: “The atmosphere of the scene will be even more electric when performed in the courtroom. “The drama of Antonio’s life hanging in the balance whilst the decision whether to uphold Shylock’s bond will feel tangibly perilous in a real court of law.”

Tickets should be booked in advance by voluntary donation by calling 01865 766266 or visit creationtheatre.co.uk
