SCALES OF JUSTICE: Some of the recent offences at Oxford magistrates' courts

Elhadi Hamza, 31, of Alexandra Road, Oxford, admitted failing to provide a roadside breathtest and possessing cannabis (Class B) in Eynsham on September 8. Fined £400, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £170 costs.

Sean O’Sullivan, 20, of Van Diemans Lane, Oxford, admitted assault by beating in Oxford on December 11. Given a 12-month conditional discharge and told to pay £85 costs.

Viktoras Vitkus, 26, of no fixed address, admitted shoplifting a £37 pair of shoes from TK Maxx in Oxford on December 30 and 10 counts of receiving stolen goods in 2011. Jailed for 12 weeks.

Liam Rowe, 21, of Territorial Way, Oxford, admitted possessing two wraps of cannabis (Class B) in Oxford on August 28. Fined £100, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £50 costs.

Lee-ann Sheridan, 32, of Ock Street, Abingdon, admitted resisting Pc James Chapman in the execution of his duty in Abingdon on August 7. Given a 12-month conditional discharge and told to pay £100 costs.

Lee Bennett, 32, of Harrowby Road, Banbury, admitted shoplifting a Philips shaver valued at £99.99 from Boots in Cornmarket Street, Oxford, on December 6. Jailed for 28 days due to “persistent offending for dishonesty-related offences, high-value item taken”.

Kalsoom Rana, 40, admitted failing to provide a roadside breath test, assaulting Pc Adrian Larner and driving without insurance in Blackbird Leys Road, Oxford, on November 8. Given a four-week jail term, suspended for a year. Given 12 months’ supervision and told to do 100 hours’ unpaid work. Banned from driving for a year and told to pay £100 compensation and £85 costs.

Andrew Kemp, 24, of Wild Close, Lower Earley, Reading, admitted outraging public decency in Henley-on-Thames by engaging in sexual intercourse in sight of a number of people including young children on April 6. Given a 12-month conditional discharge.

Kerri Reid, 24, of Bridges Close, Wokingham, admitted possession of cannabis (Class B) and outraging public decency in Henley-on-Thames by engaging in sexual intercourse in sight of a number of people including young children on April 6. Given a 12-month conditional discharge and fined £25 and a £15 victims’ surcharge.

Guy Hives, 47, of Newtown Gardens, Henley-on-Thames, admitted drink driving in Ipsde, on December 2. Namely having 57 microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml of breath. Fined £450, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs. Banned from driving for a year.

Carl Pickering, 41, of Southfield Road, Downley, High Wycombe, admitted driving while unfit through drugs on the A34 at Chilton on September 9. Fined £400, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs. Banned from driving for a year.

Stephen Rushmer, 47, of Webber Street, Waterloo, admitted assaulting Father Jerome Francis Antonious Bertram in Oxford on June 23 and failing to surrender to court bail on December 20. Jailed for three months because “assault took place in a church, victim assisting the public, under the influence of alcohol at the time, your previous record”.

Damen Lewis, 22, of Chandler Close, Bampton, admitted driving without due care and attention and without insurance; failing to stop after a road-traffic crash and arson of a hedge row, grass verge and field on October 28 in New Yatt Road, North Leigh. Told to pay £800 compensation and given a three-month curfew. Banned from driving for six months.

Lee Pullen, 29, of HMP Bullingdon, admitted shoplifting meats from Co-op in Oxford on November 17. Jailed for four weeks.

Craig Walton, 33, of Saxton Road, Abingdon, admitted shoplifting meats from Co-op in Oxford on November 17. Given a two-week curfew.

Shane Stringer, 20, of Ramsons Way, Abingdon, admitted dangerous driving and drink driving in Banbury Road, Oxford, on September 17. Namely having 294 milligrammes of alcohol in 100ml of urine, above the legal limit of 107 milligrams. Given a four-month jail term, suspended for a year, with a year’s supervision and 100 hours’ unpaid work. Banned from driving for two years.

Maqsood Akhtar, 49, of Mill Lane, Marston, admitted assault by beating and using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause a fear of violence in Oxford on July 31. Told to participate in the Thinking skills programme for 19 days and told to pay £85 costs and £50 compensation.

Adrian Ryan, 23, of Astrop Lane, Oxford, admitted possessing 2.2g of cocaine (Class A) in Oxford on August 29. Fined £100, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs.

Perrington Smythe, 48, of Evoka, a boat on the Thames, admitted using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause a fear of violence in Wallingford on October 8. Fined £140, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs.

Jason Bennett, 37, of York Road, West Hagbourne, admitted possessing amphetamine (Class B) in Abingdon on November 18. Fined £60 and a £15 victims’ surcharge and £60 costs.

Got to feel sorry for him; He escapes a high security jail, only to get caught nicking a pound of sausages!

Perrington Smyth of "A boat on the Thames" was caught after a pursuit in which speeds in excess of 4 mph were reached.

Does she need to kill someone before they will give her a proper sentence?

He also asked for a previous string of sausages to be taking into account. The judge ruled it should left on the file. See link at bottom

Spot on Big Issue. Although I thought the only speeding boats on the Thames causing excessive wash and no regard to other boaters had Salters written on them.
