THE match of the day came at Abingdon Vale where their Oxford Times Cherwell League Division 2 clash with Bledlow Ridge ended with the scores level.

Matt Orford hit 62 in Ridge's 178-8, which featured 4-68 from left-arm spinner Paul White.

Ben Humpage smashed 81 in Abingdon's reply and Tom Pollard added 48, but they closed on 178-7 with Mark Barron taking 4-31.

Kingston Bagpuize incr- eased Witney Mills' relegation fears with a 59-run win.

Dominic Pike (60) and Mo Seedat (47) led the way in Bagpuize's 236-8, Steve Kelly taking 4-104.

But only Ross Morgan (57) showed resistance as the visitors fell to 177 all out, Arthur Verdin taking the last two wickets from the fourth and sixth balls of the final over.

Spirited resistance from Challow & Childrey deprived Banbury Twenty of a much-needed win in Division 1.

Twenty chose to bat and managed 207-6, with two overs being lost to a shower.

Challow's innings was also curtailed, this time by ten overs, leaving both sides frustrated as the home side finished on 191-6.

Didcot's relegation woes continued in Division 4 when they went down by seven wickets to Long Marston.

Wright hit 72 not out as Long Marston easily passed Didcot's 162 all out.

Lee Beesley starred with the ball to take 5-62, while only Andy Ireson (31) offered resistance.

The mid-table tussle between Oxford Downs 2nd and Challow & Childrey 2nd was bubbling up for a close finish when rain forced an early close.

Challow had been bowled out for 142 in 45.3 overs, with Tim Hook (4-42) and Roger Berryman (3-28) doing most of the damage.

Downs were 76-3 with 29 overs remaining when the weather intervened.

Abingdon Vale remain deep in the relegation mire after a draw with fellow strugglers Sandford St Martin in Division 6.

Chris Babbs (42) and Alec Inns (40) saw Vale to 206-8, Trevor Simms taking 4-65.

Robin Newman bowled throughout Sandford's reply to finish with figures of 5-56 as the hosts limped to 131-7.
