A 40-YEAR-OLD Oxford man has been given a suspended prison sentence for allowing a Staffordshire bull terrier to injure a man.
Mark Thomas, of Sandy Lane, Blackbird Leys, admitted a charge of allowing a dog to be dangerously out of control.
He was sentenced at Oxford Crown Court on Monday.
His dog attacked Kevin Boyles on a track close to Watlington Road on June 6 last year.
Thomas was given an eight-month jail sentence, suspended for 18 months, and ordered to pay £800 compensation to Mr Boyles.
He was also given an 18-month supervision order.
No order was made for the dog to be put down.
