A 40-YEAR-OLD Oxford man has been given a suspended prison sentence for allowing a Staffordshire bull terrier to injure a man.

He was sentenced at Oxford Crown Court on Monday.

His dog attacked Kevin Boyles on a track close to Watlington Road on June 6 last year.

Thomas was given an eight-month jail sentence, suspended for 18 months, and ordered to pay £800 compensation to Mr Boyles.

He was also given an 18-month supervision order.

No order was made for the dog to be put down.
