An up-and-coming singer from Oxford has shot her first music video in a revamped bar in the city centre.

Cameras rolled at Roppongi, formerly Mood, in George Street, as 29-year-old Natasha Budd appeared in the video for the single Playa, by rapper Simeon Campbell, known as Rampant Boi.

Miss Budd, who along with Mr Campbell won the Lava’s Got Talent competition at the Lava Ignite nightclub in Park End Street, also got to perform on stage with BBC1 Xtra on Sunday.

She said: “It’s a funky house tune for the clubbing market and it’s about a guy who fancies every one of my friends and plays them off against each other.

“In the video I’m with my friends and we’re showing each other our texts from him, showing how he’s tried it on with all of us.”

Miss Budd, of Mattock Close, Headington, added: “The production company had been looking around for a club that looked good but was small enough to make it look busy without getting too many people in.

“The place is absolutely stunning and the VIP area is beautiful.

“The club were really good to us and let us do what we wanted. We were able to use the smoke machine and the DJ booth, and we had empty Cristal bottles and glasses filled with orange juice. It was really good fun.”

The finished video is expected to be shown on Channel AKA, an urban-music channel on Sky previously known as Channel U.

Miss Budd, who works at the Nuffield Orthopedic Centre, added: “From the Lava’s Got Talent competition they’ve asked us to perform there on a Thursday night and they’ll burn 500 copies of the single to hand out to people.

“Once the video’s on Channel AKA people can vote for it to be shown – so hopefully it will become popular and get some mainstream coverage.”
