Police today appealed for witnesses after a burglary in Bampton in which a car was stolen.

Burglars forced their way into a property in Chetwynd Mead and stole a number of electronic items, including two laptops, a Nintendo DSI, an MP3 player and a Canon EOS 400 digital camera.

The burglars also stole a set of car keys for a Toyota Celica, and then used the keys to steal the vehicle. This was located the next day in Ampney Orchard, a neighbouring road.

The burglary happened overnight between Saturday and Sunday, but details were only released today.

PC Siobhan O’Hare said: “I would like to speak with anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the area overnight between Saturday and Sunday.

“The burglars have not travelled far in the stolen car, so perhaps there are people who saw the car being abandoned or saw them leaving the area with the stolen items?

“I would also like to hear from anyone who may have been offered electrical items for sale.”

Anyone with information should contact PC O’Hare via the 24-hour Thames Valley Police Enquiry Line on 0845 8 505 505. Alternatively, you can contact the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
