A new research centre at an Oxford hospital will overshadow homes, according to Headington residents.

The Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Windmill Road, Headington, is building a new £23.6m, 134-bed hospital, which is expected to open in three years time.

As part of the development, a research centre is being built to help investigate arthritis and other joint-related illnesses.

Plans for the centre have been approved already. However, residents now say they were misinformed and didn't realise how big the centre was going to be.

They believe the height of the building means their homes will be overlooked and are now calling on city councillors to intervene on their behalf.

Cllr John Goddard, chairman of the city council planning committee, promised to investigate.
