Rough sleepers move from East Oxford beauty spot

ROUGH sleepers have moved from an overgrown beauty spot in East Oxford, the city council said.

The former Victorian rubbish tip on the banks of the Cherwell and Thames at the bottom of Jackdaw Lane, East Oxford, has been used by homeless people for several months. Some rough sleepers remain at the site.

City council spokesman Louisa Dean said: “We are aware that a number of rough sleepers at Aston’s Eyot have moved.”

Police and social services were working with the homeless, she said.
