A WOMAN stole thousands of pounds from a youth football club while working as its treasurer, a jury heard yesterday.
Natalie Ross, of Reedmace Road, Bicester, denies seven counts of theft, three of acquiring criminal property by deception, two of obtaining money transfer by deception and three of false accounting.
The 39-year-old is accused of stealing from the Ministry of Defence and Highfield Juniors Football Club, in Bicester, between 2004 and 2007.
Peter Coombe, prosecuting, told Oxford Crown Court Ross withdrew thousands of pounds of cash from MoD accounts while acting as its accountant.
When police checked her bank account it showed about £33,000 in cash paid in during the three year period, he said.
While Mrs Ross worked as treasurer for the football club cheques were paid out of the club’s account to pay a mortgage company and mobile phone bills, the jury was told.
Mr Coombe said: “She regularly withdrew large sums of cash and nothing is repaid. Where has the cash gone?”
Nigel Trinder, former chairman of Highfield Juniors, told the jury Ross had been dismissed as treasurer.
