Pair jailed for attack outside crematorium

TWO teenagers have been jailed after inflicting “life-changing” injuries on a man during an attack outside Oxford crematorium.

Karn Matthews and Cory Harry, both 18 and from Strawberry Path, in Blackbird Leys, were jailed for a total of more than five years at Oxford Crown Court on Friday.

Matthews was sentenced to four and a half years after admitting causing grievous bodily harm with intent to endanger life.

Harry received a nine-month prison sentence after admitting committing actual bodily harm.

The prosecution followed an attack on a 19-year-old man in November outside the crematorium in Bayswater Road, Barton, which left the victim with a fractured elbow.

He also suffered an eye injury after being shot with a airgun.

Det Sgt Darren Cartwright said: “The injuries are both permanent and life-changing for the 19-year-old man.

“This stiff sentence reflects the life that has been ruined over a minor argument and the two men must now suffer the consequences of their actions with a term of imprisonment.”

Stiff sentences?? Are they having a Turkish bath or what!
Four and a half years, out in two as standard. Nine-months, out in four months easy.

Life changing injuries, not life changing sentances.

Hopefully they will go on an anger managment programme while in and once out of prison.
