Tributes paid to couple who died in A361 crash

Tributes were paid tonight to a couple who died in a crash near Banbury.

Szilvia Szabo, 34, and Ferenc Szabo, 32, died in the fatal collision on the A361 near Williamscot on November 25.

In a statement issued through Thames Valley Police, friends said: “Our beloved friends Szilvi and Ferenc came to England from Hungary in 2002.

"They worked as au pairs in Chipping Warden until 2004, since when they worked for Kuehne and Nagel.

“As a result of their hard work, they bought a house in Banbury three years ago. Their home was always open to friends needing help. They were house proud and contented and kept their house clean and tidy; they had a similar attitude at work.

“They were happily married for 11 years and made lots of friends, English and Hungarian as well as other nationalities. They were always ready to help, even if they weren’t asked.

“Ferenc will be remembered for his good sense of humour and cheerfulness, and Szilvia for her delicious cakes and hospitality.

"Szivlia hoped to pass the citizenship test and become a British citizen next year. Ferenc’s dream was to open a Hungarian food shop similar to the one his parents ran in Hungary.

“They will be deeply missed by mums and dads, Ferenc’s brother and sister and hundreds of friends.”

Their funeral service was held at Banbury Crematorium on Tuesday.
