Robbers raided two buses threatening the drivers at gunpoint last night.

A robber got on the number 280 Arriva bus at a stop in London Road, in Wheatley, at 9.40pm yesterday and threatened the driver with a gun before stealing £120.

He was described as a white man, around 5ft 8in, medium build, wearing a dark woolly hat and a black and white scarf covering his face.

Then at 3.30am this morning a robber got onto a London-bound Oxford Tube bus at a stop on London Road, near the Green Road Roundabout.

He demanded cash from the driver then smashed him over the head with a gun before fleeing.

He was described as around 25-years-old, 6ft tall, Asian, and was wearing black gloves, a black beanie hat, hooded top which covered his jacket and a black jacket.

Police believe both raids are linked.

Det Con Chris Bolger, investigating the incident, said: “Both drivers were not injured but were left very shaken by what happened. There were a number of passengers on both buses but the offenders only threatened the drivers before getting off the bus.

“I appeal to anyone who was on either of the buses who have not yet spoken to us or anyone who was in Wheatley last night or Headington in the early hours of this morning, and saw men of these descriptions acting suspiciously, to contact police immediately.

“Although the descriptions of the offenders are different we are linking the two offences and would like to reassure the public that we are carrying out a detailed investigation to identify who they are.”
