A father who walked into a police station and told officers a woman’s body was at his Banbury home has today admitted killing his wife.
Mohammed Rashid, 35, admitted killing Sughra Rani, 30, in September at their home in Mold Crescent.
He is due to be sentenced at Oxford Crown Court on December 5.
Det Chief Insp Colin Seaton, leading the investigation, said: “I would like to take this opportunity to offer my condolences to the family throughout this very difficult time.
“This was a tragic death and Mr Rashid must now face the consequences of his actions.
“Sughra Rani has left behind her two young children who are now sadly without their mother and father. They are being looked after by the rest of the family and I would like to thank social services for their help and support.”
The family of Sughra Rani have asked Thames Valley Police to release the following statement on their behalf:
“We are relieved that Mohammed has pleaded guilty to Rani’s murder. Rani leaves behind her two elderly parents and her two loving children. She will be missed greatly by her family.”
