CHILDREN, teachers and parents put their back in to sprucing up Bicester Community College’s grounds at the weekend.
On Saturday, more than 100 supporters took part in the School Force event in Queens Avenue.
Organisers of the event, including Bicester Village’s Miranda Markham and town councillor Carol Steward, were delighted with the event’s support.
The highlight of the School Force event was the arrival of two van loads of shrubs and bulbs provided by Wyevale Garden Centre. Lesley Robinson and Phil Munn, from the centre in Oxford Road, refreshed flowerbeds, planted shrubs and provided expert tips on gardening.
Centre manager Adrian Drake said “It is great to be able to give something back.”
Everyone enjoyed getting their hands dirty planting bulbs and plants, fence painting, pruning and litter picking.
College students planted spring bulbs for the Myasthenia Gravis charity and reinstated the college’s eco garden with the support of Bicester’s Green Gym.
