Death driver gets job ban lifted

A woman jailed for causing the death of three children and a student in a car crash on Oxford's Eastern Bypass can return to work as a nurse, a disciplinary panel decided tonight.

Angela Dublin, 48, was suspended for 18 months by the Nursing and Midwifery Council after she was convicted of causing death by dangerous driving.

Dublin, who worked at Oxford's John Radcliffe Hospital, served 12 months of a two year jail term for the deaths of 13-year-olds Marshall Haynes, Liam Hastings and Josh Bartlett and 21-year-old student Howard Hillsdon on Oxford's Eastern Bypass in May 2005.

Today the Nursing and Midwifery Council, in Portland Place, London, imposed a five-year caution order.

The order means Dublin can return to work, but must declare her suspension and caution for the next five years to any prospective employer.

The panel is expected to announce the reasons for its decision tomorrow.

Dublin was suspended in May 2007 on her release from prison.

The crash happened when Dublin was driving on the bypass following a birthday party for her son Anton.

A court case at Oxford Crown Court heard there were seven boys in Dublin's car when it veered across the dual carriageway into oncoming traffic.
