Pensioner killed in west Oxon car crash

An elderly woman has died and another woman is fighting for her life after a collision near Chipping Norton yesterday.

At about 2.25pm, a green Land Rover towing a horse box and a silver Chrysler Neon were involved in a collision on the A361 Chipping Norton Road, at the junction with the B4437 Charlbury Road.

Police said the driver of the Chrysler, a 74-year-old woman, died at the scene.

Her passenger, a 48-year-old woman, was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford with life-threatening injuries.

Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

Pc Bob Merrill, of Bicester roads policing, said: "I appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or saw any of the cars prior to the collision to contact police."
