How would you like to work for Oxfordshire County Council’s Fire and Rescue Service?

That's what the team at Oxford’s Rewley Road Fire Station is asking residents in a career open day on May 25.

The team is inviting people to discover the variety of frontline and support roles the service offers.

Watch manager Jason Clifford said: "We’re not just looking for frontline firefighters and you’ll be surprised by the range of roles, from data analysts to HGV mechanics, control room operators and HR advisors."

The event promises behind-the-scenes tours, a chance to speak with different teams, and the opportunity to participate in physical assessments such as ladder climbing.

Prospective firefighters can also benefit from advice on improving their fitness.

The recruitment process and qualification period for various roles will also be explained.

Mr Clifford said: "Oxfordshire County Council’s Fire and Rescue Service wants to increase diversity across its teams, reflecting gender, race, religion, sexual orientation and gender identity.

"Fire doesn’t discriminate, and neither does the fire service.

"If you’re 18 or over, think you have what it takes to join our team or are just interested in finding out more, please come along."

Attendees are urged to pre-book by emailing firecity.red@oxfordshire.gov.uk, but walk-ins are also welcome.

The career insight day will run from 10am to 4pm at Rewley Road Fire Station.
