Plans have been submitted to build nine new family homes in an Oxfordshire village with a "long history" in a rural area.

Applicant R2 Developments Ltd has earmarked the houses for an agricultural field to the west of Fringford near Bicester.

The dwellings would be detached and "family sized", with the exception of two which would be connected by single garages.

A planning paper says: "Fringford is a village with a long history, and evidence has been found to suggest that the settlement has existed for up to 2000 years.

"The scale, proportion and layout of the new dwellings have been carefully considered and designed to sympathetically integrate into the surrounding village and to read cohesively with the building styles already present.

"The aesthetic of Fringford comprises mostly of stonefront buildings, or red brick, with some lime render.

"These are three materials that will predominantly be proposed throughout the development to reflect the local vernacular of the village."

A central pond, green space, planting and trees would surround the new housing plan and "suitable car parking and cycle parking" is said to be accounted for "in accordance with Oxfordshire County Council parking standards".

Plans have been submitted in outline which means a reserved matters application will follow, if approved, including further details in relation to design and parking.
