A school in Oxford has hosted 60 year five pupils to take part in an engineering, maths, and science programme.

Oxford High School welcomed children from St Francis and St John Fisher primary schools, both of which are based in Oxford, for its junior engineering, maths and science outreach programme

The children had the opportunity to participate in experiments mentored by year eight students from Oxford High School, all aimed to inspire a love for science.

The day's themed experiments centred around the concept of time, and each child took part in assembling circuits using lamps and buzzers to test their reaction times.

One of the Year 8 students added: "The children I worked with were extremely good and all had their own abilities.

"One was really good at maths and helped everyone with their addition and division whereas another one was very artistic and worked on the more creative aspect of the experiment.

"This experience also allowed me to take the lead and teach them new skills while also learning things for myself such as how to communicate with younger pupils."

Oxford High School is an independent girls' school that serves girls aged four to 18 in Oxford.

St Francis C.E Primary School and St John Fisher School are located in Cowley and Littlemore respectively.
