Plans for new auction house in Thame in Oxfordshire

Churchill Auctions, a Didcot-based family-run auction company, would like to bring its business to an existing industrial unit in Lupton Road in Thame.

The building earmarked for use has been previously used by various commercial businesses in the past including as a car showroom.

A planning statement says: “This will support the economy, providing new premises for the business, with minimal alterations needed to the existing building and retaining the existing parking arrangements.”

Measurement for the site area is 0.12 hectares with an existing gross internal floor space of 1,000 square metres for the building.

Car parking spaces will remain unchanged – at 20 – but planning statements say there is potential for a higher amount of vehicular activity.

The auction facility would carry out the majority of its business online yet still provide an in-person service and employ staff on site.

Six full-time staff are to be employed and the house would be open for business Monday to Saturday from 8am to 6pm.

Brownfield site land has been identified for the auction house and the application seeks to change the use of the building rather than make any external alterations or extensions.

Developers say “the proposal is acceptable in all respects” and that the application should be approved.
