A GIFTED young singer treated book lovers to a special performance ahead of her appearance on TV this evening.

Numa Shah, 14, wowed visitors at the Cowley Library on Friday evening.

The Headington School singer beat competition from 20,000 other 11-14 year olds to gain a place in the CBBC show ‘Got What it Takes’, which starts today.

She was scouted from a video of her singing online and had to undergo an arduous audition process to make it through to the final eight.

Numa, who sings in the school's jazz and soul group ‘Soul Train’, said: “It’s been really incredible, I have met so many people and I honestly didn’t know if I would ever get this far.

“It’s been a really good experience.”

Each week singers will perform in front of each other's mums, who will vote for their favourite before a public vote to choose who makes the final.
