CARE HOME residents have been enjoying notes from around the globe as part of a postcard campaign.

Staff and residents at Sanctuary Care Home in Yarnton have been reading and living vicariously through the different holidaymakers who have been sharing their stories from afar.

Trevor Ballinger from the Sanctuary Care home’s team said: “With every postcard that arrives, the team are hearing new and wonderful memories from our residents, it is such a joy to listen to.”

Eileen Looker, 93, said: “The postcards are lovely. They remind me of many happy memories from when I went on holiday.”

Postcards have been sent from places such as France and Armenia and now all take pride of place attached to a map in the care home.

Fellow resident Millie Surman, 89 said: “It is really enjoyable to see where the most popular holiday destinations are.”

Mr Ballinger added: “It sounds a small thing to do but for our residents it’s a big deal and they are bringing such happiness.

“They love the thought of families, who are often hundreds of miles away, taking time out of their lovely holiday to think of them in Yarnton.

“It is a wonderful thing and we hope people do still continue to send postcards.”
