A NEW bar and restaurant is set to open in north Oxford next month, with a focus on vegetarian food, craft beer, cocktails and wine.

The 'community focused' Bicycle Shed will open in Summertown's Banbury Road on October 2, featuring 'shed clutter' decor to match its name.

Aptly situated next to Summertown Cycles, the venue can fit around 120 people and includes a front patio.

Run by the same company behind George Street Social, St Aldates Tavern and The Grapes, the Bicycle Shed will feature a largely vegetarian and vegan menu, but general manager Rob Cunningham says it will feature 'something for everyone'.

He said: "It's a unique space, we are really pleased with it.

"The main attraction would be the vegetarian options, the wine list and the community feel.

"It's not going to be a city bar. It's going to be completely community based and bringing something new to the area that is fun."

He said one menu highlight would be wild mushroom and pearl barley risotto, charred sprout, watercress with truffle oil and roasted chestnut.

Mr Cunningham added that they were looking for local creative groups in the Summertown and Oxford community, such as book clubs, film buffs and knitting groups, to take over their private meeting rooms.

A 'soft opening' weekend is also planned for September 28 -30, with limited availability.
