A GANG of ten chased a teenager down George Street before beating him up and stealing his debit card. 

Thames Valley Police today released details of the incident which took place at 10.30pm on Monday, September, 3 and appealed for witnesses to come forward. 

The victim, a 17-year-old boy, was pursued down the busy city centre street before being taken down the tow path just off Hythe Bridge Street and robbed.

He was kicked and punched and his debit card was stolen from him - which was then later used fraudulently.

The boy was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital and received treatment for injuries to his head, arm and hand.

A 15-year-old boy from Oxford was arrested on suspicion of robbery on September 4 and was released under investigation.

One of the offenders is described as having dark skin, around 5ft 3ins tall, and was dressed in a grey hooded top with the hood up.

Another was described as having dark brown curly hair and was also dressed in a grey hooded top with the hood up.

Investigating officer PC Lydia Parker, of Cowley police station, said: “We are appealing for anyone who may have been in or around the area and saw this incident.

“This was a frightening experience for the victim, who needed hospital treatment for his injuries.”
