Young finalists in the Grand Twist Contest at the 45th Oxford Scouts annual fete at Cowley in June 1962.
IT was the summer of 1962, The Isley Brothers' Twist and Shout was topping the charts and Oxford was in the grip of twist fever.
In June that year Peter Reed dazzled the crowd at an Oxford dance-off with his top-notch talented twisting.
The dashing dancer was among the three finalists at the 45th Oxford Scouts annual fete in Cowley that year.
Despite his magnificent moves, however, twisting Pete was beaten to first place in the contest by jazzy Jacqueline Williams with jumpin' Jane Crump in a thrilling third place.
The next year, a young pop combo from Liverpool would cover Twist and Shout on their debut album Please Please Me.
Whatever happened to those lads?...
