JOHN Mousinho is confident Oxford United will handle the pressure of the TV cameras when they face Coventry City tomorrow.

The fixture was moved back a day and to a 12pm kick-off after being selected for live coverage on Sky Sports.

As one of the senior members of United’s squad, Mousinho is no stranger to playing in front of a wider audience.

And he played in the Sky Bet League One side’s previous TV appearance at home to Scunthorpe United in March.

The defender is backing the U’s to continue their recent good form and stretch their unbeaten run to five games in all competitions.

Mousinho said: “I think it’s part of the pressure of being a footballer.

“This will be a small one – this is Oxford v Coventry in League One on a Sunday.

“But if you really want to get to the Championship or the top of the game, then you’ve got to be used to playing in front of big crowds every week and the fact most of the games are televised.

“There’s a few lads in the changing room that will be used to it.

“For the young lads it’s a nice little starter for them.

“And if that affects them it is something that they’ve got make sure they can deal with if they want to go anywhere in their career.”

He added: “If you’re affected by the cameras being there then it’s probably a negative thing rather than a positive one.”

The U’s are looking to record a third-straight home win for the first time since February last year.

And there is confidence in the U’s camp ahead of their clash with the Sky Blues, who are on a three-match winless run.

Mousinho said: “It’s been great.

“We’ve won games in the cup and supporters might want to swap those for league points.

“But it’s important we kept the momentum going.”

United will make late decisions on Marcus Browne and Shandon Baptiste, who are both nursing knocks.

Jamie Hanson is serving the second game of his three-match ban, while Gavin Whyte is on international duty.
