MARK Jones has hinted at changing his starting line-up tonight as Oxford City target their first win of the season at Gloucester City.

The side started their Vanarama National League South campaign with a 0-0 draw against Eastbourne Borough in boiling hot conditions at a sun-kissed Court Place Farm on Saturday.

Although frustrated by the result, Jones is keen to build on the performance and is targeting maximum points at Evesham United's Jubilee Stadium.

Gloucester were beaten 2-0 at Concord Rangers on the opening day, but City are expecting a tough encounter.

And boss Jones, who names an unchanged squad, is considering changing his starting XI.

He said: “We want to go there and be positive – we’ve got to earn it.

“We’ll take the same squad, we’ve got no new injuries, but we might just tweak the side”

Jones added: “We need to get a good result.

“If someone said to me before the season we could get four points from the first two games we would’ve taken that.

“We’re definitely going there targeting our first win, but no game is easy at this level.

“I was impressed with Gloucester last year, they did all right, and anything less than our best won’t be enough.”

City’s best chance on Saturday came in the dying moments, but debutant Eze Ibrahim was denied by a brilliant save from Mark Smith.

Jones admitted to being a “little bit disappointed” with the result, but was content enough with the start.

He said: “Eastbourne did a good job on us.

“They were happier with a point and we probably didn’t do enough to break them down. It was a solid enough start.”
