ALEXIS Canter has been beaten in a three-hour epic in the second round of the AIG Irish Open Futures event in Dublin.
The 20-year-old, from Long Wittenham, lost 7-5, 2-6, 7-6 to Romanian George Botezan.
After losing the first set, Canter immediately hit back, breaking serve twice to take the match into a decider.
The Oxfordshire player saved a match point in a close third set, but Botezan eventually won the tie-break 8-6.
Meanwhile, Jasmine Conway reached the 18U semi-finals of the TeamBath CoMpete G2 Open Tennis Festival.
The 13-year-old, from Shepherds Green, beat three older players along the way.
