THE unrelenting heatwave which many people across the county have been enjoying in recent weeks could come to an abrupt end tomorrow as forecasters predict thunderstorms.

A yellow weather warning is in place for the whole county tomorrow with light showers are expected from 11am, turning into heavy showers and thunderstorms further into the evening.

The MetOffice warning says: "Some flooding of a few homes and businesses is likely, perhaps leading to some damage to buildings.

"There is a good chance driving conditions will at times be affected by spray and standing water, leading to some minor journey delays."

It also warned of delays to train services and short term loss of power due to lightning strikes.

The temperatures that the county has been basking in over recent weeks are also expected to drop to between 17C and 23C throughout the day.

But the sun is expected to make a return for the rest of the weekend with highs of 26C on Saturday and up to 27C on Sunday.
