POLICE have appealed for witnesses after a 16-year-old girl suffered head injuries after being hit by a bus in Oxford.

Emergency services shut Magdalen Bridge for two hours following the incident on June 6.

Now signs have been placed by police at the scene appealing for anyone who saw what happened to come forward.

Thames Valley Police spokeswoman Hannah Jones said officers were called at 2.25pm to a report of a collision involving a bus and a pedestrian in High Street, Oxford.

She added: "The pedestrian, a 16-year-old girl, was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital with head injuries."

At the time, South Central Ambulance Service said the teenager was in a 'serious condition'.

Her current condition is not known.

Following the collision, Oxford Bus Company confirmed one of its City3 buses was involved in the incident.

Spokesman Greig Box Turnbull said: “An investigation will be carried out to understand how it happened. We are liaising with the emergency services and will help in any way we can, this will include reviewing our CCTV footage. Our thoughts are with the lady who was taken to hospital and our driver.”
