A THIEF snatched a disabled woman's bag from the back of her wheelchair in an Oxford supermarket.

The bag - that contained pictures of the woman's late mother and rings she made in a class - was stolen in the Sainsbury's Local in Cowley Road at 4.30pm on Thursday, May 3.

It was taken as the woman, 64, stood up from her chair to collect items from a high shelf.

Inside the bag were images of the woman's late mother and rings that the victim created in a silversmith class. Other items stolen included the victim's mobile phone, jewellery box, a tiger's eye stone and a passport.

She noticed that the bag was missing while paying for her shopping.

The mobile phone was found thrown over the perimeter wall of a school in Headington the next day.

Officers would like to speak to the man in the CCTV images and are appealing for him to come forward, as he may have information that could assist in the investigation.

Investigating officer PC Katherine Miles, of Cowley Police Station, said: "During this incident, a bag containing personal and sentimental items were stolen from a 64-year-old disabled woman.
