MISS Oxfordshire will leap from a plane to raise funds for a mental health charity.

Lily Quainton, of Kidlington, will brave the challenge tomorrow as part of her fundraising efforts.

The 22-year-old, who was named Miss Oxfordshire last month and will now compete to become Miss England, will donate the cash she raises to Mind.

Miss Quainton said the charity was close to her heart, having experienced issues with mental health herself.

She said: "The reason I want to support mental health in my journey for Miss Oxfordshire is because there are so many people that suffer with different mental health issues, whether that be anxiety, suicidal thoughts, depression, eating disorders or many more.

"From my own experience, I know how hard it was to know you're not alone - so I'm doing this for all the people that have been diagnosed or are still facing there own difficulties and should reach out."

Miss Quainton, who will take on the challenge with friend Lydia Eldridge, has a crowdfunding page which has already raised more than £600.

She said: "I can't thank people enough for the support they have provided us with. We are so so grateful."

Miss Quainton will enter the semi-finals for Miss England in early September.
