THE stage is set for Oxford's biggest weekend of music, with 10,000 people expected to descend on South Park for the Common People festival.

Organiser Rob da Bank joined the crew getting the site ready for the festival's third instalment, and is keeping his fingers crossed for good weather.

He said he was relieved to find the park in good condition after heavy spring rain, and admitted he had feared the festival may have to be postponed.

He said: "It seems to have come around a lot quicker this year, after a long winter.

"A few weeks ago it was so wet under foot that we were worried whether it was possible to put the main stage up, but the site looks great.

"It's going to be a fun weekend out for all the family with lots of great music."

The festival will see sets by The Jackson's Prince's New Power Generation, James, Oxford rock band Ride and scores of other acts.
