A TATTOO studio in Abingdon opened its doors at the weekend to raise money for local good causes.

Customers were queuing out of the door on Saturday at Acreedo Tattoo and Body Piercings, which held a drop in event that encouraged people to turn up from 10am until 6pm without an appointment.

There were a set of designs, many of which featured charity logos, to choose from for those eager to get inked for a good cause, with a minimum donation of £20 per tattoo.

Money was also raised with a raffle, which featured prizes including the chance to win a half day or full day of studio time with one of the High Street shop's trained tattooists.

The charities chosen for the event, which last year raised almost £2,000, were Oxfordshire Mind and premature babies charity SSNAP, based at the John Radcliffe Hospital. Representatives were also on hand throughout the day to talk about each charity's work.

Designs included Mind's navy blue squiggle and SSNAP's baby held by two hands.

The event was started two years ago after owners Colin and Bella Morton came up with the quirky fundraising idea while on holiday in Thailand and were inspired by the poverty they saw to do something for charity.
