WANTAGE MP Ed Vaizey has announced his nominations for local health and care workers, ahead of national awards to mark the NHS’ 70th birthday.

The NHS70 Parliamentary Awards were set up to recognise the contribution made by the individuals who work in and alongside the NHS.

MPs have been asked to put forward outstanding nominees who have innovated, impressed and made a real difference to healthcare in the local community.

Mr Vaizey has nominated the following local people/teams:

• The Excellence in Cancer Care Award: Oxford SCAN Team

• The Excellence in Urgent and Emergency Care Award: Ambulatory Assessment Unit, John Radcliffe Hospital

• The Person-Centred Care Champion Award: Florian Stoermer

• The Future NHS Award, sponsored by hhruk: Neurosciences Intensive Care Unit

• The Healthier Communities Award: Oxford Health Health Visitors 0-5 Service

• The Care and Compassion Award: Jules Stockbridge

• The Patient and Public Involvement Award: Simon Cruden

• The Lifetime Achievement Award: Professor Christopher Redman

A regional champion will be announced in each category on May 21 after being judged by seniors NHS figures with national winners crowned on July 4 in Parliament.
