IT MAY have been a bit delayed this year but the unique sight of thousands of perfect purple and white chequered flowers has once again appeared at Iffley Meadow.
A sure sign spring has finally sprung, the snake's head fritillaries blanket the ancient wetland and have been captured in full glory by Camera Club member Brian Daniels.
The unusual plant usually begins flowering around mid-April, but the cold and wet weather delayed them this year.
The Berks, Bucks and Oxon Wildlife Trust even having to cancel an annual walk on April 15 as not enough had bloomed. To see them at their best visit by early May.
