ANOTHER planning application has been submitted to build homes on the site of an old pub in Headington.

The Quarry Gate in Wharton Road was demolished three years ago and has been left empty ever since after planning permission was denied on multiple occasions because proposed developments did not fit in with the surrounding street.

Seville Developments were finally granted outline permission for three 'family sized' homes in October and has now submitted its full application.

The developer's plans would see a three bed detached house built and two new four bedroom semi-detached houses.

A statement prepared by Anderson Orr Architects Ltd said the buildings have been designed so that neighbour's privacy is not affected and in a way that will improve the look of the street.

The homes would come with off-street parking and 'contemporary' living spaces.

It added: "This proposal for the site of the former Quarry Gate public house seeks to provide high quality residential development on what is a prominent and currently vacant plot.

"The size, scale and form of development have been carefully considered and are broadly consistent with the layout approved in outline."

The pub was first opened in 1937 but closed in 2013. Seville Developments bought the site for £600,000.
