A CHICKEN shortage that closed hundreds of branches of KFC, including all stores in Oxfordshire, looks to be coming to an end.

The fried chicken giant has reopened shops in Cornmarket Street and in Banbury High Street.

But hungry customers in Cowley Road and Peartree Roundabout will have to wait a little longer for their fried chicken fix as those branches remain shut.

There's also no news about the Bicester Buckingham Road outlet and the two branches in M40 service stations in the county.

The problems have been caused by the company switching its 'delivery partner' from Bidvest Logistics to DHL.

In a statement, KFC said: "We've brought a new delivery partner onboard, but they've had a couple of teething problems - getting fresh chicken out to 900 restaurants across the country is pretty complex!

"We won't compromise on quality, so no deliveries has meant some of our restaurants are closed and others are operating a limited menu, or shortened hours.

"We know that this might have inconvenienced some of you over the last few days, and disappointed you when you wanted your fried chicken fix - we're really sorry about that."
