COMMUTERS faced long queues this morning as all Chiltern Railways services between Oxford and Oxford Parkway station were suspended due to a fault.

Network Rail have been working throughout the night to fix the track but repairs are yet to be completed.

As a result the rail company closed the Chiltern line completely to and from Oxford.

It meant commuters at Oxford Parkway faced huge queues for the replacement bus services in what one reader Dave Baimbridge said was 'commuter chaos'.

Chiltern Railways has said due to the fault, services to London Marylebone would be started from Oxford Parkway until further notice.

The line was restored in time for the evening rush hour.

The fault has also caused delays and some cancellations on other services such as Great Western Railway links between Didcot Parkway and Banbury, and Didcot Parkway and Worcester Shrub Hill.

Some Great Western Railway services were still able to run through Oxford at a reduced speed of 5mph but reports are showing delays of up to 30minutes.
