SUSPECTED burglars who threw a stone at the face of a woman who challenged them during an attempted burglary are sought by police.

Three men and a woman stopped their grey Audi outside of a house in Tyne Road, Abingdon, just after 4.30pm on Saturday, January 14.

Two of the offenders got out of the car and approached the property. The first attempted to access the property by jumping over a fence.

A member of the public challenged the offender, who responded by throwing a stone which struck her in the face.

The two offenders got back into the car and the vehicle was driven away from the scene.

The victim, a 29-year-old woman, sustained minor injuries.

The first offender is a white man, aged in his late twenties to early thirties, around 5ft 7ins tall and of medium build. He was wearing a beige jumper with dark coloured tracksuit bottoms and white trainers. He was also wearing a beige baseball cap and a scarf that covered his face.

The second offender is a white man, aged in his mid-twenties, around 5ft 9ins tall and slim. He was also wearing a beige jumper with dark coloured bottoms and bright orange trainers. A beige baseball cap and scarf covered his face.

The third offender is a white man with short dark hair, stocky build and short facial hair. He was wearing a white collared shirt and black suit.

The fourth offender is a white woman with long blonde hair.

Investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Jon Shaw of the Abingdon Investigation Hub, said: “I am appealing to anybody in the area who may have seen or heard anything unusual at the time of the incident.

“Anyone who recognizes the car in this CCTV image or who has information about the incident should call Thames Valley Police on 101 and quote reference 43180013860.

“It is believed that this attempted burglary is linked to 16 other burglaries in the area since November 2017.”
