MORE than 1,000 visitors are expected to attend an annual Oxford University event where they will see stars next week.

Stargazing Oxford 2018 will be held at its physics department in the Denys Wilkinson Building on Keble Road.

Astronomers will be on hand to answer questions about constellations that can be seen in the night sky and just what happened when the universe was first created.

Daytime activities will be held from 2pm on Saturday, January 27 where visitors will be able to talk to researchers and explore space science at stalls and activities.

Stargazing activities will be held from 6pm until 9pm and will give people the opportunity of looking into the night sky with Oxford's experts and amateur groups with a range of telescopes.
