FIREFIGHTERS of the future got the chance to see inside the cabin of a fire engine at a special fundraising day.

The crew from Bicester Fire Station joined staff at new DIY store Bunnings on Sunday to raise money for the Fire Fighters Charity, which supports people who are injured whilst working for the fire service.

Food and drink was sold as part of the first ‘sausage sizzle’ day which the store plans to organise regularly to raise money for local groups.

Theo Kyberd, two, and his dad James, 37, were among the residents who came out to support the initiative and enjoy some of the fun.

Mr Kyberd, a teacher, said: “Theo has always been interested in fire engines and to see one in real life made his day.

“Our firefighters do a really important job.

“As a public servant myself I am completely supportive of what they do and I think we should do everything we can to help them out.”
