A 'POP-up vicar from the Midsomer Murders' and eight others who work against social injustices are to be honoured in a special service at Oxford’s Christ Church Cathedral this month.

Six people will be made Honorary Canons of the Cathedral because of their work in the church and three will be admitted to the Order of St Frideswide, founded in 2001 by the then Bishop of Oxford Richard Harries to recognise outstanding service to the church.

Revd Tim Harper, co-area Dean of Amersham and a member of the Diocesan Board of Education, will be made a honorary canon because of his work as a church school inspector, but many more will know him as the ‘pop-up vicar’ and other small roles in the past 10 series of Midsomer Murders.

Maidenhead priest Terrie Robinson is recognised for her work with women in the church, John Paton is soon to become the Priest in Charge of the Sulhamstead Abbots and Bannister with Ufton Nervet Benefice, Maranda St John Nicolle works on world mission and development for the Diocese of Oxford and Jane Kennedy is leading a major project to develop community use in sacred spaces.

Dr Helen Cameron is head of public affairs for The Salvation Army in the UK.
